The idea to make terrain for wargaming has been with me for many years now. I started using resins after my first job in a fibreglass factory in 1973, and have been developing skills over the years. There is a wider range of materials to work with now than there was back then and so many battlefied pieces can be manufactured.
After illness forced me out of the taxi industry in 2004, I had the perfect opportunity to try and make a go of a terrain business. It has been a great experience.
The products are manufacted in the small town of Fernvale, just to the west of Brisbane, the capital city of the great State of Queensland. Maybe we could have had more fun if the town had stayed the same as it was first called by the pioneers in the 1800's - Stinking Gully!! Stinking Gully Specialty Scenics does have a bit of a nice ring to it!
Things are going ahead and we are setting the shed up to accomodate a shop for folks who might like to drive out to see us.
I am open to suggestions on what pieces people would like, and I have done several custom orders. These will only be done as long as I don't lose money on the deal.
Some have questioned my having so many rock formations. They have all sold well over time, and I enjoy making them. They are easy to make, and some are made to use up clay so it is not wasted, and who wants 20 of the same rock piece on a table anyway?
